
Shihan Ishikawa, with over 40 years of experience and knowledge, is highly sought after for his expertise. He was recently appointed to be Hong Kong’s performance coach for its preparation to the ASIAN Games 2002 held in Busan, Korea. Prior to this appointment, Shihan Ishikawa was also Singapore's national coach for the recent 21st SEA games held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2001). He was also appointed the Singapore's National Coach for Karate for the following events:

Shihan Ishikawa is also one out of a handful of Karate exponents in South East Asia who qualifies as a referee and judge for competition free sparring shiai kumite and judge for kata for International Tournaments. His qualification includes:

Shihan Ishikawa founded the Ken Yu Kai Karate Association (Member of the Singapore Karate-Do Federation) in 19 Sep 1991 to promote the Art of Karate in Singapore. He holds the appointment of Chief Instructor of the association. Shihan Ishikawa is also the Chief Instructor of the National University of Singapore Karate Sub-Club, the Nanyang Technological University Karate Club, and the Japanese Association of Singapore.

Shihan Ishikawa holds a 8 Dan black belt in karate ( Shitoryu Style) and had practised the art for almost 36 years starting at the age of 17 in Osaka, Japan. Under the invitation of the Singapore Karate-Do Association (SKA) at that time, Shihan Ishikawa was recommended by Kenei Mabuni, Kenwa Mabuni's eldest son, to be the Chief Instructor of SKA in Singapore. Shihan Ishikawa was then 25 years old when he came to Singapore in December 1968. Till today, Shihan Ishikawa still teaches Karate in Singapore.
